About the book

I wrote Cozy Christmas Case Files under the pen name Winnie Fairbourne for readers who enjoy a small seasonal mystery and a clear trail of clues.

A Christmas gift idea for someone who enjoys gentle mysteries, this book can become a daily December ritual or a quiet activity after the wrapping paper is cleared away. Read one case a day from December 1 through Christmas Day, or enjoy the puzzles whenever you like. A star disappears before the village tree lighting, a gingerbread house goes missing, and a snowed-in inn has a mystery of its own. Compare the suspects with the evidence and rule out anyone who does not fit.

A 25-day puzzle countdown

This is a regular bound puzzle book. The numbered doors on the cover are printed artwork, not opening flaps or compartments. No toys, daily gifts, or separate activity cards are included.

Inside the book

  • 25 Christmas cases across three levels: Apprentice, Detective, and Chief Inspector.
  • A practice case explains how to solve by elimination.
  • Eight suspects and five evidence cards in the first two levels, adding position clues in Detective cases.
  • Ten suspects and six evidence cards in the Chief Inspector cases, with a bonus hiding-place question.
  • Hints and explained solutions at the back.
  • An Advent Record, notes pages, and a create-your-own-case activity.

The mysteries involve missing objects, with no murders or gore. You need the information on the page, not Christmas trivia knowledge.

Choose your own pace

Enjoy a quiet solo break, compare clues with a partner, or take turns reading at a family table. Children may need adult support with reading and position clues. Choose the difficulty for the reader rather than assuming every case suits every age.

The puzzles are for enjoyment and following clues. They are not a promise of memory improvement or a medical treatment.

Format and editions

The interior is 76 pages at 6 x 9 inches. The gallery illustrates paperback and hardcover formats. Check the selected edition and local availability on Amazon before ordering; the country links may open a particular edition. Props in mockups are not included.
