About the book

I wrote Cozy Case Files under the pen name Winnie Fairbourne for readers who enjoy a small mystery and a clear trail of clues.

Something has gone missing: a blue ribbon at a village fair, a gold compass on a night train, or a lantern at a snowed-in inn. Each case gives you a story, a suspect table, and evidence cards. Compare the details and eliminate the people who do not fit until one answer remains.

Inside the book

  • 30 cases across three levels: Apprentice, Detective, and Chief Inspector.
  • A guided practice case explains how to begin.
  • Position clues introduce left, right, and next to as the cases become more involved.
  • Bonus hiding-place questions appear in the toughest cases.
  • Hints and explained solutions are at the back.
  • Notes space, a case record, and a create-your-own-case activity let you keep track and try writing a mystery yourself.

Choose your way to solve

Enjoy a quiet solo puzzle break, take turns reading clues with a friend, or solve as a family. Children may need an adult to read the story and explain unfamiliar words. Choose the level for the reader rather than treating every case as suitable for every age.

The stories involve missing objects, with no murders or gore. These are puzzles for enjoyment and following clues, not a promise of memory improvement or a medical treatment.

Editions

The interior is 84 pages at 6 x 9 inches. The gallery illustrates paperback and hardcover formats. Choose an available format on the Amazon listing and check the selected edition before ordering. The country links may open a particular edition, and availability can vary by store.
